Our Safety Management Policies
We adhere to the stipulated safety rules and regulations as laid out by the Ministry of Public Works and other related bodies;
Alco Contractors is keen on maintaining;
1. Cleanliness in the work place/site
We ensure the workplace is kept clean on a daily basis as work is on-going and as we hand over the site.
2. Protective clothing and safety gears
In case workers are employed in any process where they are exposed to any injurious or offensive substances, Alco Contractors provides protective clothing and appliances. Some of the appliances include gloves, footwear, goggles and helmets etc.
3. Safe means of access and safe place of employment
Our workplace is usually safe to access we fence all openings on our site i.e. floors, steps, passages, gangways and only allow an entry to and an exit from points to avoid injuries to passer-by’s.
4. Working at a Height and using Lifting machinery during construction
To prevent any accidents we normally make sure that all machineries and equipment’s such us ladders, hoists and lifts, chains, ropes and lifting tackles, cranes and other lifting machines are thoroughly examined by a person approved by the director or the site manager and who is conversant with the equipment in writing.
5. Welfare facilities
Alco Contractors provide drinking water, washing facilities/toilet, storage for clothing not worn during working hours and first aid kits for emergency cases.
6. Training and supervision of inexperienced workers
Our employees assigned to any machine or process that is liable to cause bodily injury is required to be fully informed of the likely dangers and precautions to observe.
6. Avoid overcrowding
As work is in progress, our site manager ensures that the site is not overcrowded, to avoid risks of injuries to the health of persons employed.
7. Ventilation and lighting
We always make sure that there is good circulation of fresh air in each workroom by providing an effective ventilation facility and sufficient lighting; be it, natural or artificial in the site/working areas.
8. Insurance
it is our company policy to take policy covers for our workers during our projects.
